How To Get Better

Depression is no easy task to get over, you need help from others, optimism, a plan of action, resilience and a strong will power. When getting over this mental illness you must take into account it will be a struggle because it goes and comes back over and over until eventually its gone forever, depression is worse than many physical illnesses like breaking an arm because it creates an emptiness inside your very soul and turns your world upside down making it hard to even trust your own thoughts. It is definitely possible to get over it but it will take time it's not something you get over in a week it could take years, it is horrible and unfair for anyone to be tortured by such an illness.

The first step to recovery is to acknowledge you have depression and then to find help from others like family, friends, doctors and sources online. To have come to this website and looking at this page you completed the first step which believe me is a big first feat because the depression will try and trick you into thinking its hopeless and it will tell you to give up. Depression from one perspective is an evil voice which tricks and deceives you by making you so low and sad you could even question why you are living(extreme). The second step is to being able to distinguish whats a lie and whats the truth through a system of logic, you have to list facts about the statement and if it has more facts to what it's saying its true. The third step is to think positively like i'm going to get through this, I have so many people that care about me, and try to get something you like which you look forward to doing everyday. There are many other helpful things to know like trying to be in relations with friendly happy people, being in a good positive environment, getting rid of things that are making you sad, getting exercise into your daily routine, doing things you love(I love music), building a good sense of humour to cheer self up, philosophising positively, making your body posture happy (it actually makes you feel happier) like chin up, straight back, high shoulders,  picking your feet up and also expressing your emotions rather than keeping them in. This all relies on you giving it your all though, you must be fully in it because most of getting over this depression will depend on you, I know seeing a psychologist/psychiatrist will help as well as helplines like beyond blue. I remember not wanting to do any of those because I kept saying they don't help and other excuses but trust me someone who's been through this they do its just the depression deceiving you. Remember depression is different for everyone so try things not just advice I give or others it is your mind you know more about it then anyone else, advice and help is good and on top of that finding your own way for your individual needs will always help in getting over depression. A way to look at depression is as a competition between you and this second being in your head you've got to beat it and you're not going to loose, and when you win you will be a new person with life experience and resilience that will help you in life. Please help yourself because that little bit of effort will get you a long way in life and it will get you pass this phase of depression!
